Every two years, the US Election Assistance Commission puts out a report (the “EAVS report”) compiling nationwide data from the immediately prior November federal election.

Key national data points from the November 2024 election:

  • 40% of rejected ballots were rejected due to a non-matching signature
  • 40% of provisional ballots cast were because the person did not appear on the roll of eligible voters
  • 60% of voter registrations come from the motor vehicle office
  • 70% of Confirmation Notices sent to registrants were unreturned
  • 70% of ballots transmitted to overseas voters were to non-military voters

Key WA state data points from the November 2024 election:

  • 66% of ballots in Washington state were returned by drop box
  • 98% of Confirmation Notices sent to registrants were unreturned
  • Washington state is one of the four states where nearly half (48.8%) of all overseas voters are concentrated
  • 86.7% of applications for overseas voting came from non-military voters
